Parking Trains & Buses

For a location map please click here;  for parking please refer to the diagrams below.

Parking is possible on the hard standing at the top of the Green throughout the year. In summer it also is possible to park on the grass on the rest of the Green, and it is often possible in winter as long as the grass is not too wet.

There is a susbstantial village car park at the bottom of the hill next to the Old School. There is a drop off point for disabled people next to the church available all year round. There are a few disabled parking spaces adjacent to the church but these are normally only available in summer months. Please contact the church warden  (see contact details) if you want to pre-arrange using these.

Out of respect for the local residents please do not park in front of their drives, and if possible use the Green or the Old School car park at the bottom of the hill.

We would like to express our appreciation to both the Hyde Parker family and the Parish Council for their generosity and support with respect to parking.

Please note that if you want to get here by train the nearest station is Sudbury. This can be reached by a train from London Liverpool Street and by changing at Marks Tey. It is possible to get to Long Melford by bus three differnt bus companies, Felix, Beestons and Chambers however some will only drop you off in the village so you will need to walk up the hill to the church. A taxi is of course an alternative.
