We are blessed in Long Melford to have a beatiful church building which has been 'soaked' in prayer and worship for centuries. Many find Choral Evensong to be a service where the sense the space and peace within the building helps to direct our thought towards God. The service uses a format and words which date from 1662 (and earlier) and so as we worship we in a sense making a connection with those who have worshipped here for generations.
As well as the worship sung by the choir, there are usually three congregational hymns, readings, a sermon, and prayers. Choral Evensong is normally held on Sunday evenings during British Summer Time on the first Sunday of the month, and lasts for just over an hour. For the next service please see the scrolling calendar on the home page.
