What can I expect when I visit church?
Firstly we hope you will be welcomed as you come in, if you have any questions please don't be afraid to ask someone at the door. We try not to assume prior knowledge in the way we lead our services, and there is no obligation to say anything that you do don't feel comfortable with. A typcial service starts with a welcome, then there are hymns, Bible readings, a talk, prayers, and then receiving either a blessing or Holy Communion.
What happens to the kids at church?
There is provision for children at all our services with a craft, colouring and a video however we would particularly encourage them to attend the Family Service at 10.30am on the first sunday of the month which is informal (and shorter) and Messy Church.
There is a creche area with colouring at the back of church which can be used throughout the services and a tower room if parents need a quieter moment with their children.
We would also encourage them to attend Messy Church on some Sunday afternoons, our baby and toddler group Connect, and our youth Group Fusion. Children make their way to the Lady Chapel at the back of church during the first hymn for a story, a craft and a game, and return before the end of the service to share what they have been up to. On the first Sunday of the month the 10.30am service is a a child-friendly when we all worship together.
Is there a dress code?
No! Just wear whatever you normally wear – others will be wearing anything from shirt and jackets, skirts and tops, to jeans and a t-shirt or leggings.
Will I be made to feel uncomfortable?
We hope not! We will be welcoming, and you will not be forced to do anything you are not comfortable doing. We want you to feel right at home and enjoy the service. Do join us for a tea and coffee after the service to get to know some people from the church.
How much does it cost?
You are welcome to attend free of charge - we're delighted you want to join us. Whereas some visitors and our regular members do like to contribute because the church has considerable running costs, there is absolutely no obligation for visitors to do so and please do not feel awkward as the offering is collected.
