Tower Tours


Come and enjoy the magnificent view from the top and have a go on the bells, as well as learning about the history of the tower. You will need to be comfortable using spiral staircases. 

The original tower of Holy Trinity was destroyed by lightning around 1710. A Georgian brick and plaster replacement was built around 1772 however, this was considered rather unappealing and not in keeping with the rest of the building. The present tower, dating from 1903, was therefore built around this older tower. It was built as part of Long Melford's commemoration of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and stands 118 feet in height. Tower Tours are conducted throughout the year please see dates below:

Monday 29th May 2017
Tour will run from the church shop 10-4pm

Friday 8th September 2017
Tour will run from the church shop 12-4pm

Saturday 9th September 2017
Tour will run from the church shop 10-1pm

Sunday 10th September 2017
Tour will run from the church shop 12-4pm

Tours last between 45-60 minutes (depending on numbers)

We do also offer private tours by arrangement so if you would like a tour, maybe just to take in the view and hear the history of the tower, or perhaps an earl dawn/evening sunrise photo opportunity, we are always happy to try and oblige so please don’t hesitate to contact our tower captain Linda on linda@rodbridge.com.
